Federal Member for Ryan Jane Prentice has paid tribute to former Chapel Hill State School principal Ross Perry and his outstanding service to the local community.
Speaking at his farewell assembly today, Mrs Prentice acknowledged Mr Perry’s tireless efforts both within the school and broader community.
“Ross Perry was the unelected representative of Chapel Hill,” Mrs Prentice said.
“He took up local issues on behalf of the community, regardless of whether or not they were school-centric.
“When we started a local Neighbourhood Watch; when we wanted to hold a ‘Movie in the Park’ for the local community – it was Ross Perry who co-ordinated meetings and events here at Chapel Hill State School.
“And when a school parent was confined to a wheelchair due to MS, it was Ross Perry who campaigned for a footpath network so that she could continue to take her children to school and participate in classroom activities.
“Whatever is the next project for Ross, we know he won’t be quietly in the background – he will be the Energiser Bunny – pushing everyone to do better.”
The day’s proceedings also included the official opening of the new Ross Perry Resource Centre at Chapel Hill State School.
